Reading Time: < 1 minuteIf a wife during her maradhul maut (last illness) absolves her husband of the mehr debt (or any other debt he may be owing her), such absolution is not valid (i.e. the husband is obliged to pay the debt). This is because waiving debt during maradhul maut is classified as wasiyyat (bequest), which is not lawful for an heir.
