Expressions of an Oath

- The qasam (oath) comes into effect when you take the Name of Allah Ta’ala using words such as:
- Wallah!
- Wallahi!
- Allah’s Qasam!
- Qasam in the Name of Allah!
- Qasam in the Glory and Majesty of Allah!
- I take an oath in Allah!
- I take an oath in the Greatness of Allah!
- Etc.
- Similarly, the qasam is binding with the following expressions:
- Allah is witness!
- I make Allah my witness and say…!
- I say, knowing that Allah is present and looking!
- Etc.
- If you did not take the Name of Allah, however, you mentioned that you are taking an oath, then too, the oath is binding. Examples:
- I take an oath that I will not do that action!
- Qasam I will not do it!
- Etc.
