The Simple Nikaah Contract

Reading Time: < 1 minute
  1. Nikaah is done simply with two utterances.
  2. E.g. someone said in the presence of witnesses: “I have given my daughter to you in marriage,” and the other party said: “I have accepted.” The nikaah is done.
  3. Both have become husband and wife.
  4. If, however, the father of the girl has several daughters then saying just that much does not conclude the nikaah.
  5. He has to take the name of the daughter by saying, for example, “I have given my daughter, Qudsiyyah over to you in nikaah,” and the boy replies, “I have accepted.”
