Radhaa’at/Breastfeeding
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- When giving birth it is waajib for the mother to breastfeed the infant.
- If, however, the father is affluent and can find a wet nurse, then it is no sin for the mother not to breastfeed her child.
- It is not permissible to breastfeed someone else’s baby without the consent of the father.
- If, however, a child is in the pangs of hunger and it is feared that the child may die if not fed, then in such a case it is permissible to suckle the child even without its parents’ consent.
