  1. When giving birth it is waajib for the mother to breastfeed the infant.
  2. If, however, the father is affluent and can find a wet nurse, then it is no sin for the mother not to breastfeed her child.
  3. It is not permissible to breastfeed someone else’s baby without the consent of the father.
  4. If, however, a child is in the pangs of hunger and it is feared that the child may die if not fed, then in such a case it is permissible to suckle the child even without its parents’ consent.
