The Time a Fast Starts
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- In the Shariah, a fast commences with true dawn (that is when the time of Fajr commences).
- Hence, it is permissible to eat, drink, etc. as long as it is not dawn (Fajr).
- Some women are under the impression that in the later part of the night (that is at Sehri time), once a person finishes having Sehri and makes the intention for fasting, then it is not permissible to eat and drink thereafter.
- This notion is wrong.
- As long as it is not the time of Fajr, one can eat and drink, irrespective of one having already made the intention of fasting or not.
