The Deformed Child 

Allah says in the Qur’aan Shareef: “Allah knows what every female bears and whatever the wombs increase and decrease. And, everything by Him is prescribed.” (Surah Ra’d, aayat 8)

Even a deformed child is by the decree of Allah Ta’ala. It is the effect of Allah’s direct intervention and command. In the same way as it is haraam to abort or murder a well-formed child, so too it is haraam to murder a malformed child.

Murder does not become permissible if committed in the sphere of the womb. The place of the commission of the crime does not mitigate the evil deed. There is no difference in a murder inside the mother’s womb and outside. Islam does not differentiate between murders committed in different places.

The human status of the deformed child is not negated simply on account of its concealment within the sphere of the womb. It too is an Amaanat (trust) in exactly the same way that a well-formed child is a human.
