Beholding the Honesty and Integrity of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
Although Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had not yet received Nubuwwat at that time, he was well-known for his honesty and integrity. Everyone knew of his holy and wholesome character, and for this reason he was known as Al-Ameen (The Trustworthy).
His fame and virtues were no secret to Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha); hence she wanted to entrust her business to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and benefit from his honesty.
She sent a message to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) requesting him to take her merchandise to Shaam and that she would provide a servant to accompany him. Furthermore, he would receive a greater portion of the profit than what she gives the others.
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was a courageous and open-minded person, and he did not shy away from this long journey and business venture. Rather, he accepted, took the goods for trade and left for Shaam together with Maisarah, the slave of Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha).
There, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) traded with great wisdom and made much profit. After having bought other goods from Shaam, he returned to Makkah.
He returned the wealth to Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) who sold the merchandise in Makkah and made almost double the profit.
Now, Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) appreciated even more the honesty and good management of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
