The Dawn of Nubuwwat

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) lived together peacefully for 15 years. Then the time of Nubuwwat and the spread of the Light of Islam in the world came. For six months Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had remarkably clear and true dreams. Whatever he saw in those dreams would become manifest and witnessed with the naked eyes.

It was the habit of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) to go to a cave called Hira, which was near Makkah, for Ibaadat. Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) would give Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) food to take with and he would stay there for many days at a time, engaged in Ibaadat.

During one such stay at the cave of Hira, Allah Ta’ala sent the Angel, Jibraeel (Alaihis Salaam) in the form of a human being to deliver the message of Nubuwwat to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam). He tightly embraced Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) three times and then recited the first few verses of Surah Alaq.

As this was the first such encounter, and bearing the weight of Nubuwwat was no easy task, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) became worried. He was concerned as to how he will be able to bear this task, or will he perish trying to bear it!? He returned home to Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) trembling.
