The Best Dowry (Part Eight)
7. Zakaat
Zakaat is Fardh, as you have read in Deeni books. You do know the details of its conditions, specifics of the amount for gold and silver and the beneficiaries of Zakaat who are mentioned in the Qur’aan Shareef. There is no need to repeat the details here.
Worthy of mention is that most women are indifferent towards Zakaat. Firstly, wealth is something dear. The heart of a human does not want to separate from wealth. Secondly, due to indolence and a careless attitude, Zakaat is not given. You should be very mindful of giving Zakaat.
The jewellery which we have given you amounts to the Nisaab of Zakaat. Always give the Zakaat of it.
If the husband gives Zakaat on behalf of his wife, then it is permissible (provided that he informed her beforehand).
If a woman wishes to give her Zakaat and her husband objects, then the husband’s objection should be ignored, as mentioned in the Hadeeth above.
لَا طَاعَةَ لِمَخْلُوْقٍ فِيْ مَعْصِيَةِ الْخَالِقِ
“There is no obedience to creation in something which entails disobedience to the Creator.”
I have mentioned this just to keep you alert, otherwise you will never face such a situation, Insha Allah. In fact, there will be even more emphasising on resoluteness in the Faraaidh and the Masaail of the Shariah.
