  1. You gave someone some clothes which were locked in a wardrobe. You never gave the person the keys of the wardrobe. This is not taking possession of the item (the clothes) gifted.
  2. When you hand over the keys of the wardrobe, then possession takes place and the clothes are now owned by that person.
