The Nikaah of the Daughter of Hazrat Sa’eed Bin Musayyab (Rahmatullahi Alaihima)
A Taabi’ee is a person who was blessed with the good fortune of the company of the Sahaabah (Radhiyallahu anhum). The illustrious Sa’eed Bin Musayyab was a Taabi’ee. Together with his status as a Taabi’ee he was endowed with such virtues which made him stand apart from his contemporaries. For 50 years he never missed Takbeer-e-Ula – the First Takbeer said by the Imaam in Jamaat Salaat, and for 50 years he read Fajr Salaat with the wudhu of Isha.
Hazrat Sa’eed (Rahmatullahi alaih) had a daughter who, in spite of being a female, she was way ahead of a thousand men in understanding, insight, and experience. She was an embodiment of Ilmi and Amali (academic and practical) excellences. Her piety and honesty crowned her virtues with everlasting beauty.
وَاِنْ تَكُنْ خُلِقْتِ اُنْثٰى لَقَدْ خُلِقْتِ … كَرِيْمَةً غَيْرَ اُنْثَى الْخُلْقِ وَالْحَسَبِ
Even though you have been created a female, but you have been created truly,
honourable, and extraordinary in character and ancestry.
Allah Ta’ala even bestowed her with external beauty and glamour which were without equal. The Khaleefah of the time, Abdul Malik Bin Marwaan came to know about her. With great fervour he laboured to get his son, Waleed married to her.
Hazrat Sa’eed was an Aalim who used to spend his time in solitude. He was naturally averse to mixing with the rich and the kings. Where would he be happy with the proposal!? He immediately and forcefully refused.
From that day Abdul Malik held a grudge against Hazrat Sa’eed. He therefore had someone throw a pail of water on Hazrat Sa’eed’s head one cold day. In venting his anger, he furthermore had Hazrat Sa’eed beaten.
But this man of Allah was as solid as rock whom a hurricane could not even wobble.
Now listen to the story of his beautiful and elegant daughter’s Nikaah and marriage which he abhorred to be in a royal family.
