Solace for the Childless
A couple who Allah Ta’ala does not give any child, neither a boy nor a girl, it is in their best interest as He knows better what is good for them.
Consider a person who is engrossed in work of the Deen with peace of mind in view of him not being responsible for rearing children. Now, if he had to have children, then who knows whether he will still have the peace of mind or not?!
With children, one concern after the other overwhelms one. Today one of them has an ear paining; another’s tummy is aching. One fell and got hurt; another is lost and the parents are in a state of panic.
So, it is possible that Allah Ta’ala did not give a person children to keep him or her free.
Once, when I went for Haj, then my khaala (maternal aunt) requested Hazrat Haaji Saheb (Rahmatullahi alaih) to make Du’aa for me to have children. Hazrat said to me in privacy: “Your khaala requests Du’aa for you to have children. How can I refuse making Du’aa!? But, Bhai, I prefer you to be like me.”
Thereafter, Hazrat spoke about the ills of having children, that one is beset with problems, and when they become big then they cause you grief in this and that way.
I said: “Hazrat! I also prefer what you prefer.” Hazrat was very happy over my response. And truly, the peace of mind I have today, I would never have had such peace of mind with children.
