Haraam and Halaal Animals and Birds

  1. An animal which hunts and eats other animals is haraam to consume.
  2. A bird which hunts other animals and eats their flesh is haraam to eat.
  3. An animal which eats only filthy things is haraam to eat.
  4. A bird which eats only filthy things is haraam to eat.
  5. Examples of such animals are: lions, wolves, jackals, cats, dogs, monkeys, etc.
  6. Examples of such birds are: eagles, hawks, vultures, etc.
  7. Those animals and birds which are not like that are halaal.
  8. Animals which are not like that are: bucks, ducks, hares, etc.
  9. Birds which belong to the halaal class are: parrots, starlings, doves, sparrows, partridges, wild ducks, pigeons, etc.
