After the Mother

1. If the mother dies, or she refuses to look after the child, then custody of the child goes to the nani (maternal grandmother – mother’s mother).
2. If the nani also has passed away, or she refuses to take the child, then the nani’s mother (maternal great-grandmother) can take the child.
3. After the nani’s mother is the turn of the dadi (paternal grandmother – father’s mother).
4. After the dadi is the turn of the dadi’s mother.
