Wearing Jewellery for Show

It is a major sin to wear jewellery for the purpose of showing off one’s high status. Many women devise plans for displaying their jewellery, like saying that it is too hot and then taking off the scarf to show off the necklace and earrings.

If no one asks about it then they make comments about the price of the earrings or the uniqueness of the design. This is a major sin.

In a Hadeeth Shareef, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said to women: “Can you not live without silver jewellery?”

Then he said: “A woman who wears gold jewellery for show will be punished for it.”  (Mishkaat Shareef)
