The Marriage

For the nikaah, the uncles of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), Abu Taalib, and others went with him to the house of Hazrat Khadijah. There, her uncle Amr Bin Asad recited the nikaah khutbah according to custom, and Abu Taalib also recited a khutbah.

After that, the nikaah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) was performed and the mehr was fixed at 500 dirhams.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and his clan were extremely happy at this marriage, and he slaughtered a camel for the walimah. At that time, it was still fifteen years before Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) would receive Nubuwwat, and he was 25 years old.

Those men who were hoping to marry Hazrat Khadijah (Radhiyallahu anha) became extremely jealous and began saying that they did not know what happened to the intelligence of Hazrat Khadijah that she married a poor person. When this news reached Hazrat Khadijah, she said, “Whatever wealth I have, belongs to Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), and he will now be the wealthiest person.”

In Surah Dhuha, Allah mentions this incident, “Look O Muhammad! You were poor and We made you wealthy (with the wealth of Hazrat Khadijah).”
