Asma Bintu Abi Bakr As-Siddeeq (Radhiyallahu Anha)

• Her father, Abu Bakr’s name was Abdullah Bin Uthmaan.
• She was the wife of Az-Zubair Bin Al-Awwaam.
• She is the mother of Abdullah Bin Az-Zubair.
• Her honorary title was Zaatun Nitaaqain [The Lady with Two Belts – She tore her belt into two and used one part to tie the provisions of journey for her father and Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) when they made Hijrah].
• Her mother’s name was Qailah. Some say that her mother’s name was Qutailah.
• Asma was bigger than Aishah.
• They both have the same father and different mothers.
• Abdullah Bin Abu Bakr is her full brother, that is, they share the same parents.

• She was born 27 years before the Hijrah year.
• Her father, Abu Bakr As-Siddeeq (Radhiyallahu anhu) was 20 odd years when she was born.
• She was the 18^th person to become a Muslim.
• When she made the Hijrah she was expectant with her son, Abdullah Bin Zubair.
• She gave birth to him in Quba.
• Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) gave her the title of Zaatun Nitaaqain.

• She gave birth to three sons, Abdullah, Urwah and Munthir.
• Thereafter, her husband Zubair gave her talaaq. There is no consensus on what the reason for the talaaq was.
• Sayyidatina Asma (Radhiyallahu anha) narrated many Ahadeeth which are reported by several Sahaabah, among whom are her son, Urwah and her grandsons and granddaughter.
• Among the Ahadeeth narrated by her is that she asked Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam): “My mother has come inclining to Islam – she is a mushrikah [that is she is yet a disbeliever], should I maintain my tie with her?” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) replied: “Yes.”
• She lived a long life and became blind towards the end.
• She died 10 or 20 or less than 30 days after her son, Abdullah was killed in the year 73 Hijri.
• She was 100 years of age.
• She is noted for her profound intelligence, firmness on Deen, persevering heart and resoluteness in difficult conditions.
