A Glimpse of the Faraaidh of Haj

Reading Time: < 1 minute

There are numerous Masaail of Haj. Some are Fardh, some Waajib, some Sunnah, and some are Mustahab. Here, there is no scope to mention all of them. Only the Fardh Rites shall be mentioned which are three. They are: Ihraam, Wuqoof in Arafah and Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarat.

From these, Ihraam is a precondition, whilst Wuqoof in Arafah and Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarat are constituents (Arkaan). If any of these three are left out, then the Haj will not be done.

If Wuqoof in Arafah is left out, then there is no solution other than making Haj over again. However, in the case of Tawaaf-e-Ziyaarat being left out then making amends is possible.

If a Waajib is left out then although the Haj will be done, it becomes necessary to slaughter an animal which is permissible for Qurbaani, such as a cow, goat, or camel.

In the Masaail of Haj it is also worthy of remembering that [the Fardh Time of] Wuqoof in Arafah is the night which follows the Day of Arafah, not the preceding night. If anyone stayed in Arafah at any time from after sunset on the Day of Arafah till Subh Saadiq of the next day [the 10th of Zil Hijjah], his Haj will be done. This is unlike of all other days where the ruling expires when the sun sets on that day.
