Reciting the Kalimah to the Person Passing Away

Reading Time: < 1 minute
  1. Sit by the person passing away and recite the Kalimah (Laa ilaaha Illallaah) loudly so that he/she hears you and recites the Kalimah.
  2. Do not instruct the person to recite the Kalimah because it is a critical time, and the dying person could utter anything. (In other words, the person could refuse to say the Kalimah, may Allah Ta’ala protect us.)
  3. Upon reciting the Kalimah once, then keep quiet.
  4. Do not try to make the person in the throes of death to repeatedly recite the Kalimah till his/her last breath.
  5. The objective is for his/her last words to be the Kalimah.
  6. It is not necessary for the Kalimah to be recited till the last gasp.
  7. Yes, if the dying person speaks some talk concerning the dunya after that, then renew the recital of the Kalimah.
  8. When he/she recites the Kalimah, then once again keep quiet.
