Reciting the Kalimah to the Person Passing Away
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- Sit by the person passing away and recite the Kalimah (Laa ilaaha Illallaah) loudly so that he/she hears you and recites the Kalimah.
- Do not instruct the person to recite the Kalimah because it is a critical time, and the dying person could utter anything. (In other words, the person could refuse to say the Kalimah, may Allah Ta’ala protect us.)
- Upon reciting the Kalimah once, then keep quiet.
- Do not try to make the person in the throes of death to repeatedly recite the Kalimah till his/her last breath.
- The objective is for his/her last words to be the Kalimah.
- It is not necessary for the Kalimah to be recited till the last gasp.
- Yes, if the dying person speaks some talk concerning the dunya after that, then renew the recital of the Kalimah.
- When he/she recites the Kalimah, then once again keep quiet.
