  1. Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Shaahid [Witness] means the Day of Jumu’ah. No day is greater than the Day of Jumu’ah. In it there is a moment in which Allah Ta’ala accepts the Du’aa of a Muslim and He grants protection from anything from which protection is sought.”  (Tirmithi Shareef)
  1. The word Shaahid comes in Surah Burooj. Allah Ta’ala took an oath by that day.

وَالسَّمَآءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوْجِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُوْدِ وَشَاهِدٍ وَّمَشْهُوْدٍ

“By the firmament which has towers (in other words huge stars), by the Promised Day (Qiyaamat), by the Shaahid (Jumu’ah) and by the Mashhood (the Day of Arafah).”
