Foregoing the Fast in Sickness
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- If you are sick and fasting will harm you – you fear that your sickness will deteriorate by fasting, or you will take longer to recover, or you will die, then do not fast.
- When you recover from the sickness then keep the Qadha.
- However, it is not proper to form one’s own opinion in this matter and forego the fast. When a Deeni-conscious Muslim physician says that the fast will worsen your condition then only you should not fast.
- Yes, if you have experience or a strong feeling that in your case the fast will harm you, it will then not be necessary to consult the physician.
