The Fitnah of Social Media
The internet, the smartphone and social media have set loose Muslim women in this day and age from the holy confines of Pardah/Hijaab and their sacred duties to Allah Ta’ala and their families.
In former times, the Sahaabiyyaat and the Pious Ladies of this Ummah (Radhiyallahu anhunna) would engross themselves in their Deen and domestic affairs oblivious of the outside world. Their concern was only the Aakhirah – the Pleasure of Allah Ta’ala and the happiness of their respective households.
But nowadays Muslim women have joined the liberation march with kaafiraat and stormed into the public domain laying bare their Hijaab and Haya. They have jettisoned their shame and Islamic duties to their husbands and children by coming into the public domain for all and sundry to feast their eyes and ears on them and their confounded posts, recipes, voices, and advertisements.
The internet social media is a massive trap of Shaytaan to get women out of their homes without them even realizing it. In fact, this emergence through the portal of the internet and social media is a million times worse than physical emergence from the home.
Leave alone losing their Haya, women and young girls have even lost their Imaan by flirting on the web and on social media.
It suffices to say that these social media platforms are utter destructive to the Imaan of Mu-minahs and sheer poison the the Deen of Muslimahs.
YouTube and Instagram are shaitaani platforms of haraam fisq and fujoor.
YouTube accounts are haraam in view of the pictography and imagery of animate beings which go with it. Furthermore, this platform is contaminated with vile, and shameless posts and videos. It is imperative to stay very, very far from haraam YouTube.
There is no need whatsoever for women to run channels and websites.
The relatively safe means of communication is via emails.
Teaching Qur’an and conducting Deeni classes online are fraught with fitnah for a girl and women. Her voice is disseminated and broadcast to all and sundry. If there is a need to teach, it should be done in a secluded and private home without announcements and posters.
Sharing recipes and engrossing in recipe posts as if we have been sent to the Dunya to be gluttonous and crave after food, are spiritually ruinous. Whilst the Noble Ladies of the Ummah absorb themselves in fasting and Tilaawat of the Qur’aan, these women who can only think about their kitchens can only produce recipes to fatten stomachs and make people obese, thus ruining their spiritual fibre and inclination for A’maal-e-Saalihaat.
We trust this little explanation suffices for you to realize the haraam associated with this appendage of Shaytaan known as social media.
Refer to the links below for further insight into the Fitnah associated with social media.
The bottom line is that when a woman switches on her phone or goes online, she is in effect stepping out of her home and Shaytaan is lurking behind her to lead her astray and others through her. Therefore, just as emerging from her sacred domain at home is only permissible when there is a real need and necessity, so too will it only be permissible for her to utilize a private communication tool such as email when need and necessity arise. Insofar as social media is concerned, totally abstain from it.
