A Divine Lesson in Haya Silencing All Excuses
Hazrat Umme Salamah (Radhiyallahu anha) reports that she and Hazrat Maimoonah (Radhiyallahu anha) were by Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Just then Abdullah Bin Umme Maktoom (a blind Sahaabi, Radhiyallahu anhu) came.
“Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) told us: ‘Go into pardah (that is, take leave).’
I said: ‘Yaa Rasulallah! He is blind. He cannot see us.’
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) replied: ‘Are you also blind! Can you not see him!?’” (Abu Dawood – Mishkaat)
Just look at that! In spite of there being not the slightest possibility here of anything untoward, as on the one side were the Pure and Noble Wives who are the Mothers of Muslims, and on the other side was a noble Sahaabi who furthermore was blind, still, for greater caution, or as a lesson for the Ummah, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) sent his wives into seclusion.
So, where these barriers are not present, why won’t pardah be worthy of exercising!? (Al-Qowlus Sawaab Fee Mas-alatil Hijaab)
