A Gentle Approach
A gentle approach in dealing with things produces much better results. Hence Allah Ta’ala says:
وَقُلْ لِّعِبَادِيْ يَقُولُوا الَّتِيْ هِيَ اَحْسَنُ
“Tell My servants that they speak what is best.”
In other words, there should not be harsh and inflammatory speech, needlessly.
For this reason, Hazrat Ibraheem (Alaihis Salaam) took his son to one side and after telling him of his dream, he asked: “What do you say?”
This was the approach of Hazrat Ibraheem (Alaihis Salaam). He did not say it bluntly.
Although there was the apparent possibility in the mind of Hazrat Ibraheem (Alaihis Salaam) that, “He (Isma’eel, Alaihis Salaam) is yet a small boy, lest he becomes fearful and refuses”, however, he was convinced that, “My son is a noble boy brought up in a noble manner.” [Hence his response would be noble and commendable.]
