Why is it a Requirement for Women to Have a Mahram for Haj?

Mas-alah: I am explaining a Shar’i Mas-alah. We do not answer the question “why”. However, to pacify you I am writing.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) prohibited a woman from undertaking a journey of 3 days and 3 nights [a Shar’i Safar of 77.5km or more] without a Mahram. The reason for this is that in such a long journey she will be unable to protect her honour and chastity.

This writer is aware of women who went for Haj without a mahram and came back having sullied themselves with fornication.

Besides this, circumstances arise in such lengthy journeys where she requires physical help. If there is no mahram with her, she is going to experience hardships. (Aap Kê Masaail)

Note: It is not wise to confront the Law of Allah Ta’ala with your opinion and your desire turning a blind eye to all other angles (referring to a woman going for Haj without a mahram). Alas, this has become the temperament of most people nowadays. (Aap Kê Masaail)
