Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Whoever sends Salaam to me then Allah returns my Rooh (Soul), for me to return the Salaam.
(Abu Dawood, Baihaqi – Mishkaat)
The Belief of the Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaat is that the Ambiya are alive in their graves. Thus, the meaning of “Allah returns my Rooh” is that the Rooh of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) is focused on Allah Ta’ala, but when someone sends Salaam to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) then Allah Ta’ala turns the attention of Rasulullah’s Rooh to the Salaam, and he replies to the Salaam.
