Taking a Qasam on the Qur’aan

  1. It is not proper to take a Qasam in the following manner:
  • Qasam on the Qur’aan
  • Qasam on Allah’s Kalaam
  • I take an oath in the Qur’aan Shareef
  1. However, in the above instances the qasam (oath) will come into effect, that is the oath will have to be fulfilled although it is forbidden to take oaths in such a manner.
  2. If one held the Qur’aan Shareef or placed one’s hand on it, without verbally taking an oath, no oath comes into effect.
