Formerly, the general custom was that mothers would call their girls, sit them down, talk to them  about nice and interesting things, teach them Surahs for Namaaz, and gradually make them practice the rules of the Shariah and the Faraaidh and Waajibaat of Deen.

When they were satisfied with this, they would teach them good social behaviour, keep an eye all the time on their interactions, and observe their every move, whereas, from childhood, they weren’t free, selfish, shameless, or harbouring bad thoughts as commonly found in girls nowadays.

The situation of that time was better and more satisfactory than that of these times, nevertheless, no attention was paid to what they think when it came to their Tarbiyat. Their desires were not fulfilled.

All thoughts of that time were in accordance with the desires of the elders and beneficial. Mothers kept their girls by them and under their control. They prioritised their own contentment over the girls’ comfort.
