When a Wet-Nurse Can be Hired

Reading Time: < 1 minute
  1. If the husband is well to do and he can afford a wet-nurse to suckle the baby, then it is not permissible for the mother to omit the fast.
  2. The wet-nurse should be hired and the mother must fast.
  3. If the infant, however, does not drink from anyone else’s breast besides his own mother, then in such a case the mother can omit the fast provided that she fears for her life if she fasts.
