Introduction
For a long while now I have had the thought of writing a book which is interesting and which contains words of advice, but hitherto the thought has not materialized. Mundane matters before me have been such that I haven’t had the opportunity. Sitting now, I thought, what is gained from wasting one’s life? I have to do something.
For several days, my heart has been in this dilemma. If I have girls by me and I teach them something, my heart is not able, and my mind is not the same. [In other words: “I am not young, energetic and qualified.] How can I bear this task? My nervousness has made me completely useless.
Sitting without doing anything fills me with dread. Even if I spend some time with girls and household matters, then what? No one has benefitted.
Then these eyes, tongue, hands, feet, heart, and mind that Allah has bestowed me with, through His special favour and kindness, are being wasted. It’s a pity; it’s a pity! They should at least be of benefit!
Finally, I decided that I should carry out my first idea [of writing a book]. This is a better and a good occupation. By virtue of this, Insha Allah, others will benefit.
But for this, writing skills are required. Now, I don’t have such a heart or intelligence, and my mind is not the same. Furthermore, I don’t have any capability either.
Only through determination, placing my trust in Allah, I sat up, picked up the pen and ink and started writing, saying, “With Your help [O Allah], I have taken on this task. I am determined to bear the weight of the universe, though I am weak.”
My dua to Allah is that He fulfils my heart’s desire, people can benefit from it in general, and that this book be like a tutor to all girls.
For this purpose, I have written another book (titled Zaaiqah which was published and sold out gaining much acceptance) so that, along with household management, girls learn how to cook, so they don’t depend on anyone and can enjoy eating and drinking with thriftiness and provide comfort to their families.
