Reaching Home One Hour Before the Shar’i Midday
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- You did not have any intention of fasting on journey. However, you reached your home one hour before midday in the Shariah. (See below for explanation of midday in the Shariah.) You did not eat or drink anything as yet. You should make intention of fasting in this case.
- Similarly, if you reach a place and intend staying there for 15 days or more and it is an hour or more before midday in the Shariah, then you will have to fast.
- Midday in the Shariah is not 12.00pm. It is the middle of daylight hours which is half the total number of hours from Subh Saadiq till sunset.
- For example, Subh Saadiq is 4.30am whilst sunset is 6.30pm. Total hours of daylight are 14 hours. Half of 14 is 7. Add 7 to the Subh Saadiq time of 4.30am = 11.30am. Therefore, 11.30 is midday. An hour before midday is therefore 10.30am.
