On Behalf of Whom Should One Give Sadaqah Fitr?
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- For females it is only waajib for them to give Sadaqah Fitr on behalf of themselves.
- Neither is it waajib for females to give the Fitrah of their children, nor of their parents and nor of their husbands.
- For males it is waajib to give the Fitrah for themselves and on behalf of their na-baaligh (under the age of majority) children.
- However, if a child has wealth and is classified in the Shariah as wealthy, then the father can give the child’s Fitrah from the child’s wealth.
- It is not waajib for the father to give Sadaqah Fitr for his baaligh children (15 years of age and older).
- However, if any child is mentally handicapped (not of sane mind) then the father should give on that child’s behalf even though the child is of majority age.
