Your Noblest Deed
Reading Time: < 1 minute
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Should I not make you aware of your noblest deed, the most prosperous and purest by your Sovereign; the deed which will be the loftiest in your stages (in Jannat); the deed which is better for you than spending gold and silver (for the Pleasure of Allah); and better for you than facing your enemy (in Jihaad spending your wealth and risking your life) with you slaying them and them slaying you (thus you reaping martyrdom)?”
The Sahaabah (Radhiyallahu anhum) replied: “Do inform us.”
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Zikrullah!”
(Maalik, Ahmad, Tirmithi, Ibn Maajah–Mishkaat)
Notes
- Zikr applies to Zikr in the heart as well as Verbal Zikr.
- The pivot is the heart which rotates from the absent to the present by virtue of what is recited by the tongue.
- In other words, the heart transforms something which is absent into it being present.
- Thus, by virtue of Zikr of Allah Ta’ala, the Presence of Allah Ta’ala is felt.
