The Wet Nurse of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)
The Life Story of Hazrat Haleemah (Radhiyallahu Anha)
Tribe and Tribal Excellence
Hazrat Halimah (Radhiyallahu anha) was from the tribe of Bani Sa’d. She was a very poor woman. Her father’s name was Abu Zuwaib and her husband’s name was Haarith.
She had the honour of being the wet nurse of the baby who was the leader of both worlds. If she did not receive this honour and greatness, then today no one would have even known her name.
The tribe of Bani Sa’d was known for the sweetness of their water and the eloquence and rhetoric of their speech (i.e. excellence in speaking and clear and correct language).
Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) used to say: “Allah Ta’ala has made me the most eloquent amongst the Arabs. Firstly, our tribe, the Quraish is ahead of all others in the quality of their language and speaking. And secondly, I was brought up in the Bani Sa’d, who are well-known and distinguished for their eloquence and rhetorical speech.”
