  • Hazrat Anas was the servant of our Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
  • His mother was Umme Sulaim (Radhiyallahu anha).
  • She was a Sahaabiyah.
  • She happens to be an aunt of Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) as well.
  • Her husband was the Sahaabi, Abu Talhah.
  • She had a brother who became shaheed (a martyr) in a battle participating with Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).
  • On account of all of this, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) cared for her much and would occasionally go to her home.
  • Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also saw her in Jannat.

  • There is an amazing story about her. She had a child. The child became sick, and one day the child passed away [whilst her husband was away on journey]. When the husband returned it was nighttime.
  • Now just look at her Sabr. She thought, “If I inform my husband, he is going to be traumatised the whole night. He is not going to eat.” She sat quietly.
  • Her husband asked about the child. She replied: “He is in comfort.” This was not a lie. What greater comfort is there for a Muslim than returning to his original abode?! The husband never understood what she meant.
  • In short, she brought the food and placed it in front of him. He ate. The husband had a desire for her. This maiden of Allah did not even decline this.
  • After everything, she asked her husband: “When someone borrows something to another and then asks for his item, is there any scope for refusing to give back the person’s item? He replied: “No!” She said: “Then make Sabr, the child has passed away.”
  • He lost his composure and said: “Why didn’t you tell me when I came?!” He went and related this whole episode to Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam). Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) made Du’aa for them.
  • By the power and will of Allah Ta’ala, she became expectant and a boy was born. His name was kept Abdullah who became a great Aalim, and among his offspring were great Aalims.
