The Demise of Hazrat Aaminah

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) lived with his mother, Aaminah now, and she was very happy at seeing him and delighted at observing the habits and speech of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam). But she did not know that the comfort of the mother’s lap was not in the fate of this child who would later reside in the Cave of Hira.[1] After only one year, she passed away, leaving Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) alone.

Having stayed in Makkah for some days, Hazrat Aaminah took Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) along with her to Madinah which was her original hometown.[2]

They stayed there for a few months and then set off to return to Makkah. On the way, they stopped at a place called Abwa, where the hand of death separated the mother from the child, and Hazrat Aaminah left this world.

At six years of age this child who would don the Crown of Nubuwwat, was not only without the shadow of his father, but also the hand of his mother departed.

This place called Abwa, was between Makkah and Madinah. Some years after receiving Nubuwwat, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) stopped at this place and visited the grave of his mother, and he cried so much that those present also cried.

Subhaanallah! Allah made the heart of His true Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) so pure that in it was present the qualities of patience, gratitude, kindness and remembrance of dear ones. Sallallaahu alaihi wa aalihi wa ashaabihi wasallam.

Umme Aiman (Radhiyallahu anha), whom Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) inherited from his father’s estate,  was with. She took Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) from Abwa to Makkah.
