Sighting of the Eid Moon in Overcast Conditions

Reading Time: < 1 minute
  1. On account of overcast conditions if the moon was not sighted for Eid but by a single person, then this person’s sighting alone is not accepted in the Shariah.
  2. No matter how reliable the person may be, but only his sighting is not sufficient for the Eid moon to be confirmed in overcast conditions.
  3. In such conditions two reliable and Deeni practising males’ testimony or one such male and two such females’ testimony of their sighting of the Eid moon is required for confirmation of the moon.
  4. If there is no male who sighted it, only females, even if they be three or four, then too the moon’s sighting will not be established.
