Hazrat Aisha’s Hijrat and Coming to the Home of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam)

Circumstances Preceding Hijrat and After Hijrat

The proposal that was sent to Hazrat Saudah (Radhiyallahu anha) was also accepted, and after the nikaah she came to live in the home of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).

For almost three years they all lived in Makkah before Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) made the Hijrat which was a distinguished part of the life of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and a wonderful episode of Islam.

After Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) settled in Madinah Munawwarah, he sent Hazrat Zaid Bin Haarithah and Hazrat Abu Raafi’, providing them with 2 camels and 500 dirhams for expenses, to fetch the wife and son of Hazrat Zaid – Umme Aiman and Usaamah – the two daughters of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) – Hazrat Umme Kulthum and Hazrat Faatimah Zahra – and Hazrat Saudah (Radhiyallahu anhum).

Together with them, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) also sent Hazrat Abdullah, the son of Hazrat Abu Bakr, to bring his mother – Umme Rumaan – his brother – Abdur Rahmaan – and his two sisters – Asma and Aishah to Madinah Munawwarah.

Seven months after arriving in Madinah, upon the indication of Nabi (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Aishah was sent by her parents to stay with Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) at the age of nine. Then she spent her life of love, harmony and unity in the blessed company of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam).

Hitherto among the Arab women, the month of Shawwaal was considered to be an unlucky month and the cause of discord with the husband. Dispelling this notion from their minds, Hazrat Aishah (Radhiyallahu anha) used to say: “Look! Both my nikaah and departure took place in the month of Shawwaal. Now you tell me who will be given the good fortune of having more harmony and love for her husband than me and who was loved and bonded the most from all the wives?”
