The Love of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) and Travelling with Him

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Although Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) married a few other women after coming to Madinah, he loved Hazrat Aishah more than any other wife.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) treated his wives equally in all external matters and in keeping them happy, and he used to say, “O Allah, I treat my wives equally in all matters that are in my control, but forgive me for that which is not in my control (i.e. love from the heart).”

At times, Hazrat Aishah (Radhiyallahu anha) travelled together with Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), sometimes on the camel of Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) and sometimes on her own.

On one journey, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) rode on her camel and talked to her. When they stopped at a place, Hazrat Hafsah told her, “O Aishah! You ride my camel and I will ride yours.”

(Hazrat Hafsah was the daughter of Hazrat Umar, Radhiyallahu anhu. When she became a widow then in the year 3 Hijri Rasulullah, Sallallahu alaihi wasallam, married her. She was also very clever. She passed away in the year 45 Hijri, 12 years before Hazrat Aishah, Radhiyallahu anha, passed away.)

Although Hazrat Aishah was very intelligent, due to being a young girl she accepted [Hazrat Hafsah’s suggestion] without thinking.

When it was time to leave, Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) mounted the camel which Hazrat Hafsah was now riding and the caravan carried on. Hazrat Aishah (Radhiyallahu anha) was now greatly upset by this trick of Hazrat Hafsah, and she remained upset and regretted this exchange of camels for the rest of the journey.

When they stopped again, she sat and cried, and like young ones started to kick the grass and curse herself, “O Allah, let a scorpion or snake bite me!” Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) consoled her, and to make her happy he made her ride her camel as usual.
