Including Others in One’s Qurbaani Bull or Cow
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- A person bought a cow or bull for Qurbaani. When purchasing the animal his intention was to include in the animal anyone who wishes to join in, and the Qurbaani will be done in partnership. Thereafter, some people joined him in the bull. This is permissible.
- When purchasing, if his niyyat [intention] was not to include anyone in the animal; his intention was to make Qurbaani of the whole animal for himself, then it is not good for him to include anyone else in the animal. [It is Makrooh.]
- If, however, he did include someone else then the status of this person who bought the bull should be considered, whether he is rich and Qurbaani is waajib on him, or he is poor – upon whom Qurbaani is not waajib. If he is rich and Qurbaani is waajib upon him then including someone else is permissible.
- And if the Qurbaani was not waajib upon him then it is not permissible for him to include anyone else.
