Tayammum – The Barkat of Aishah (Radhiyallahu Anha)

Hazrat Aishah (Radhiyallahu anha) was also present on the journey during which the law of Tayammum was revealed. It was due to her barkat that Allah Ta’ala granted this favour to Muslims for our ease.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) had stopped at a place where there was no water. Hazrat Aishah was wearing a pearl necklace that she had borrowed from her sister, Hazrat Asma, and it fell off her neck. Two persons were sent to look for it, but they could not find it.

The time of Fajr came, and everyone was worried about water. Hazrat Abu Bakr scolded Hazrat Aishah saying, “It is due to your carelessness that the entire army has been inconvenienced, and we have stopped at a place where there is no sign of water.”

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) was lying down. Out of respect for her father, and for fear of disturbing Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam), Hazrat Aishah did not say a word.

A short while later, Allah Ta’ala revealed the Aayaat of the Qur’aan in which the order was given to make tayammum with sand if no water is found or if a person is ill.

At the time of departure, when the camel of Hazrat Aishah got up then her necklace was found underneath it.
