The Witnesses to the Nikaah Ceremony Have to Be Muslim and Baaligh
Reading Time: < 1 minute
- If one or both witnesses to the Nikaah ceremony are not Muslims, the Nikaah is not valid, even though they are males.
- Similarly, if one or both the witnesses are not baaligh (adult in the Shariah), the Nikaah is not valid, even though they are Muslims.
- This also applies to the case where there is one male and two females as witness to the Nikaah, but one of the females or both are not baaligh. The Nikaah is not valid.
