8. Haj

Haj is Fardh when a person is able to perform it. One upon whom Haj is Fardh and she does not perform the Haj; such a person has been given a severe warning in the Hadeeth. Rasool-e-Saadiq (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said that there is fear of such a person dying as a non-muslim.

We know that the value of the jewellery you have is not so much that makes Haj Fardh upon you.

Besides expenses and provisions for the journey, it is also stipulated for a woman to have a mahram or husband, as you have learnt in the kitaabs.

When Allah Ta’ala gives you the means by which Haj becomes fardh, then you should carry out the Haj without hesitation and apathy.

(There is immense thawaab in Haj. It comes in the Hadeeth Shareef that whoever makes Haj and abstains from shameless and sinful acts in it, such a person becomes purified of sins as if being a new-born baby.)

[Note: Some senior Ulama are of the opinion that in these times due to the appalling state of intermingling in the Haram Shareef in which a woman is brushed, groped and pressed by men, it is not waajib for her to go for Haj. If the conditions become better in the future, then she should go. Otherwise, she should make wasiyyat before she passes away. Wallahu A’lam – Khairun Nisa]
