Specific Haj Directives for a Female

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In the Masaail listed hereunder the ruling for women differs from that of men.

  1. The Ihraam of a woman is merely covering her hair and leaving her face open. (Refer also to the articles: Keeping the Hair and Face Covered in Ihraam and Hanging the Niqaab Over the Face.)
  2. It is not prohibited for a woman to wear sewn clothes.
  3. Women should recite the Talbiyah softly.
  4. In the state of haidh or nifaas they will recite the Du’aa and Talbiyah and go into Ihraam without performing the two Rakaats Salaat of Ihraam.
  5. They should tie their hear with a cloth or scarf so that no strand of hair breaks and falls. Tying this scarf is merely a precaution. (Some people think that it is part of the Ihraam, whereas it is not.)
