The Wife of Rabaah Qaisi (Rahmatullahi Alaiha)

Reading Time: < 1 minute
  • She would engage in Ibaadat the entire night.
  • When a portion of the night would pass by, she would tell her husband to get up.
  • If he did not get up, then after a little while she would wake him up again.
  • Then late into the night she would say: “O Rabaah! Wake up, the night is coming to an end, whilst you are sleeping.”
  • Sometimes she would pick up a small stalk and say: “By Allah! This world is even more insignificant in my eyes than this!”
  • After reading Isha Salaat, she would adorn herself with a beautiful garment and ask her husband: “Do you have any desire?” If he replied in the negative then she would remove that garment and then till Fajr, she would engage herself in Nawaafil.

Lessons

  1. Ladies! You can see how she used to offer Ibaadat to Allah Ta’ala.
  2. Together with that, to what degree she would fulfil the right of her husband!
  3. She would also encourage her husband towards practices of the Deen.
  4. All these [that is, engrossing oneself in Ibaadat – not necessarily the whole night, but even a portion of the night – encouraging one’s husband towards Deeni practices and fulfilling his right] are things to be done.
