Witnesses for a Nikaah Contract

  1. Among the conditions for a Nikaah is that two men, or one man and two women are present to witness the contract.
  2. The witnesses should hear the Nikaah taking place and they should hear the words of Offer and Acceptance. Then only the Nikaah will be done.
  3. If a man married his daughter to someone in privacy and the other party accepted, but there were no witnesses, the Nikaah is not valid.
  4. Similarly, if there was only one witness, the Nikaah is not valid.
