Pardah – A Natural Demand of Human Nature

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Pardah is but something natural. A self-respecting descent person’s nature automatically demands that women be in Pardah. No self-respecting human can ever tolerate that all and sundry look at his wife.

The Shariat has not elaborately mentioned things which are natural. In this regard, it has discussed the ways of purification after answering the call of nature, but nowhere in the Qur’aan or Hadeeth is it stated that to eat faeces is haraam because human nature naturally abhors it.

On the basis of this rule, the Shariat would not have discussed the laws of Pardah, but the Shariat knew that a time will come when human nature will be overwhelmed with bestiality and as a consequence modesty will decrease or depart. Hence, the Ahkaam of Pardah [Laws of Hijaab] are mentioned in the Shariah.
