Getting Only Girls
What must the poor wife do when she cannot get any children!? Getting children is not in the control of anyone. Sometimes even kings do not have children, whereas they consume all types of nourishing foods and take strong medications. Then too they get nothing. This is solely in the hands and control of Allah Ta’ala. There is no fault of women in this.
Some men we have seen become upset with the wife when she only bears girls. Firstly, what fault is it of hers. (In fact, if physicians are consulted, they will possibly lay the fault at the feet of the man.)
Secondly, this is not something to become upset about, because:
آنکس کہ تو نگرت نمی گرداند
او مصلحت تو از تو بہتر داند
The one whose gaze may not be turning to you
He knows what’s good for you better than you
You may remember well that the child which Hazrat Khizr (Alaihis Salaam) killed, there was good in it for the parents.
Moulana (Roomi) says:
آں پسر را کش خضر بہ برید خلق
سِرّ ِآں را در نیاید عام خلق
The boy who in the eyes of people Khizr slew
The mystery behind it was not fathomed by people like me and you
Similarly, Khizr (Alaihis Salaam) boarded a boat and broke a plank of it. Outwardly, it appeared as if he damaged the boat, but there was much benefit in it.
Moulana says:
گر خضر در بحر کشتی را شکست
صد درستی در شکست خضر ہست
Khizr, on the ocean a boat he broke
There was so much good in what he broke
Then according to the narrations, after killing the boy, Haq Ta’ala gave the parents a girl in whose progeny there were Ambiya born.
Now tell me, if you had a boy and he was like the boy Khizr (Alaihis Salaam) killed, then what would you have done?
There is profound wellbeing for you in Allah Ta’ala giving you girls, because girls generally do not bring disgrace to the family and they are very obedient to their parents. [Unless they are sent to schools and universities to destroy their haya and morality. Then they become utter shame for the family.]
Boys on the other hand today are so insolent, that Allah Ta’ala save us! Rather not have such boys than have them!
In these times, if Khizr (Alaihis Salaam) does not kill such boys, Allah Ta’ala can slaughter them. Not giving boys as children is also a form of them being slaughtered.
